COVID, L2 Results, & Lots of Note Taking
As you can likely tell from the title, I finally got COVID last week. I somehow made it 2+ years without getting COVID, even while working in a Long-Term Care Facility, but apparently, it was my time. I was feeling pretty terrible last week and didn’t have the energy to do any studying or keep up with my classes. Unfortunately, my sense of smell is not fully back either, so I am unable to keep up with the tasting webinars right now.
While I’m starting to feel a bit more myself, I spent most of the weekend trying to get caught up on my textbook and taking notes, since I can successfully do that without needing to smell. For me, the best way to study the textbook is to go through each chapter and underline what is important. I then take out my notebook and create a study guide based off of the things I’ve underlined. It’s extremely time consuming, but is the best way for me to digest and understand all of the information.
I do hope my smell comes back soon so I can get back on track with the class. What’s nice about the WSET class via Napa Valley Wine Academy is that I have access to it for a whole year, and can schedule the exam for anytime within the next calendar year. However, the farther I schedule the test from the class, the more I’m likely to forget things, so I’m hoping to quickly get caught back up and hopefully take the test in Napa this December. However, as with all things, que sera, sera.
In MUCH better news, I got my test results from L2 and passed with Distinction! I wasn’t too worried about not passing this exam, but I did do much better than I thought I would, and to score within the highest grading level was the cherry on top! I should be receiving my certificate and pin in the next few weeks. In preparation, I have the spot on my wall ready to go right next to my L1 certificate.
